Turnout down almost 40 per cent

10:45pm Thursday 12th February 2009

The turnout for the Waddon byelection has dropped by almost 40 per cent.

This year's turnout was 3,192, 28.6 per cent of the electorate.

That figure is significantly down from the May elections in 2006 which saw a turnout of 5,077, just over 45 per cent of the electorate.

The poor turnout could be due to the bad weather conditions, with ice and snow falling from late afternoon onwards.
