CROYDON COUNCIL THE CROYDON (PROHIBITION OF STOPPING ON CAB RANKS)(NO.1) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2008

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council on 6 May 2008 made the above-mentioned Order under Sections 9 and 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, and all other enabling powers.
2. The general effect of the Order would be:-
(a) to introduce on an experimental basis an 'At any time' taxi rank for use by hackney carriages only in Poplar Walk, Croydon, from a point 10.00 metres south-west of the north-eastern flank wall of Nos.114 to 120 Poplar Walk south-westward for a distance of 10.00 metres;
(b) to provide that Council civil enforcement officers may issue a penalty charge notice where they have reason to believe that a vehicle, other than a hackney carriage, has been left or been permitted to wait in a cab rank during the prescribed hours.
3. A copy of the Order which will come into operation on 19 May 2008, of the Council's Statement of Reasons for making the Order and of a map indicating the length of road to which the Order relates can be inspected until the expiration of a period of six months from the date on which this Notice is published during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the "One Stop" Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 1EN.
4. Copies of the Order may be obtained from Parking Services, 9th Floor, South West Side, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 1EN.
5. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
6. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the experimental Order will come into force or, if the Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force. Any such objection must be in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to the Order Making Section, Parking Services, Environment, Culture and Public Protection Department,9th Floor, South West Side, Taberner House, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 1EN. Any objection may be communicated to, or be seen by, other persons who may be affected.
