Streatham Vale teen arrested after 'CS gas' released on tram near Phipps Bridge

British Transport Police have arrested a 16-year-old Streatham Vale youth in relation to an affray on a tram.

The incident occurred just after 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 8, when a noxious substance, possibly CS spray, was released in a carriage at Phipps Bridge tram stop.

Several passengers were overcome by the substance and were treated by London Ambulance Service at the scene.

Last week police released a series of CCTV images of the incident and appealed for the public’s help.

BTP Inspector Jack Ioannou said the youth attended Croydon Police station on Saturday and was arrested for affray, he was bailed to return on December 6.
