Marathon round up

Eight members of Crys- tal Palace Triathletes completed the London Marathon on April 18.

First across the line was Carol Evans, who also runs for South London Harriers, in three hours and two minutes beating the club's coach Jon Horsman by just over a minute.

Jon finished his first marathon in a very respectable three hours and three minutes.

Other runners included Mitch Cooke in three hours and 55 minutes and Bernard Finerty in four hours and nine minutes.

Three other members were also running their first and, in some cases last, marathon and between them raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Robin Booth ran in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and finished in four hours and 42 minutes. Karen Ayers was not far behind, crossing the line in four hours 56 minutes for the XP Support Group.

And Frances Greenall decided to run the marathon to celebrate her 50th birthday this year and raise funds for the charity Bliss. She finished in five hours and 41 minutes.

The last team member home was John Petrides. He completed his 12th consecutive London Marathon in five hours and 52 minutes for the charity SOS.
