Welsh apologise for European fixture switch

London Welsh fans hoping to watch Eurpean rugby at the club's traditional home in Richmond have been left disappointed by health and safety problems at Old Deer Park.

Amlin Cup clashes with Grenoble and Italian side I Cavalieri in December and January respectively have been switched to the club's home away from home in Oxford having been originally scheduled to be played in west London.

London Welsh managing director John Taylor said: “We apologise for any inconvenience but, sadly, this has been caused by health and safety issues relating to the grandstand at Old Deer Park.

”We had hoped to be able to get a new safety certificate in time for these games, but that has proved impossible.

“We hope our London-based supporters understand and would like to take this opportunity to remind everybody that coaches organised through the Supporters’ Club go from Old Deer Park to the Kassam Stadium on every match day.”

There is also a change of date for the return Aviva Premiership clash with London Wasps.

It had been originally planned for December 28 but - after Wasps rejected a request to move the game outside the normal playing window - has now been moved to December 29.
