Staines Town’s Kingston College-backed football academy U18s saw dreams of reaching the third round proper of the FA Youth Cup dashed by a 3-0 second round defeat at Bristol Rovers on Wednesday.

The Swans had beaten  Wroxham 4-2 last week, to reach the second round for the first time in 27 years – they  would have faced either Oldham Athletic or Coventry City had they won.

Staines Town secretary Steve Parson said: “We are very proud of the boys’ achievements. The Kingston College’s partnership is very fruitful and exciting.”
