Richmond's Nuredini gets Schools call

Rising star: Gani Nuredini in action for his school
Richmond footballer Gani Nuredini has added another accolade to his growing collection of honours, writes Stuart Amos.
The 18-year-old for Queens Park Rangers youngster already captains the Independent Schools’ Football Association England squad, and has now been selected for the English Schools’ National Football squad to play in the forthcoming Centenary Shield tournament.
It means Nuredini is in line to feature in five matches, all shown on Sky Sports, against the home nations and is the only representative from the Independent Schools’ sector in the team.
The Ardingly College student’s exploits have attracted he attention of several American Universities and a number professional football clubs in the UK, which saw him at trial at Crawley Town last year.
Ardingly’s head of football Nick Tester said: “Having left Queens Park Rangers two years ago to concentrate on his studies, he has been able to develop his football to a very high standard.
“It again shows young players do not have to give up their education if they want to play a high level of football.”
