Anything can happen in this league, says Tanners boss

Title talk: Not on Richard Brady’s watch as Tanners boss Title talk: Not on Richard Brady’s watch as Tanners boss

Leatherhead boss Richard Brady has banned all talk of winning the Ryman League Division One South title from the dressing room.

The Tanners’ recent tremendous run of eight wins in 10 games has propelled them to third in the table, just five points behind Dulwich Hamlet, who make the trip to Fetcham Grove this weekend, and leaders Maidstone United.

After a shaky start to the campaign, Leatherhead found themselves precariously close to the foot of the table.

However, their fine run since the beginning of September has seen them touted as genuine automatic promotion candidates.

Brady said: “Yes we are within touching distance but the lads aren’t
allowed to talk about that.

“You only have to look at the home loss to Sittingbourne to see why we can’t be getting ahead of ourselves.”

Although Brady’s men are up for the Dulwich clash, Brady admitted it could be another weekend off.

“After speaking to our groundsman, if I had to give a percentage of whether or not the game is going ahead it would be zero,” he said.

“We want to play. This game is a great chance for us to close the gap on the top two and we do not want to be falling behind.

“We are preparing as if it is going to be on but it’s not looking good – maybe we could get a game of ice hockey on though.”
