Hercules Wimbledon's depleted senior men's team finished just outside the top three in the East Surrey cross country relays on Wimbledon Common on Saturday.

They were the fourth A team, with marathon man Alex Urban fastest of the quartet covering the 1.9 miles lap in 11 minutes, six seconds.

Second leg runner Jeremy Brown was second fastest in 11:28, with veteran over-40 runner Peter Collins just one second slower on the third leg third.

Teenager Neil Arora, making his Hercules Wimbledon debut, completed the team in 12:28.

Over-45 veteran Jeremy Purnell was best B team runner covering the course in 11:40 on the third leg, with fellow veteran Frank Wood clocking 12:22 on the opening leg.

Anchor leg runner Robert Howe was best of the young athletes relay team, which finished second in completing the anchor leg in 13:15.

Other members of the trio were Alex Bisnouth (13:21) and Jack Wintour (14:13).

Hercules Wimbledon's Emma Klugman was top girl finisher in the U13 race -she was fourth out of 21 runners in 12:31.

Bella Seymour was third girl in 12:50, with Alex Abraham top Hercules Wimbledon boy finishing eighth in 13:02.

David Grima continued his build-up for April's London Marathon by finishing 10th out of more than 900 runners in the Bushy parkrun in 18:17, just seven seconds outside his best time for the course.

Adam Harwood was the top Hercules Wimbledon finisher in the Wimbledon Common parkrun taking sixth place out of 260 runners in 19:23.

Andrew Davies was 11th in 19:43, James Wallace first veteran over-55 finisher in 20:51 and Charles Hampden-Smith, who later in the day ran a leg in the East Surrey League cross country relays, top veteran over-50 finisher in 21:07.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's cross country runners compete in the final 2XU Surrey Men's cross country league meeting at Farthing Downs, Coulsdon, and the final Max Sports Surrey ladies League meeting at Denbies Vineyard, Dorking.
