Kingston AC & Polytechnic Harrier Phoebe Law followed up her Surrey Schools’ Cross Country Championship silver medal last week by winning her U17s Surrey Ladies Cross Country League race on Saturday.

The 14-year-old Surbiton High School student, pictured right, clocked 16 minutes, two seconds to secure a comfortable triumph at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking.

Law now prepares for the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships in March.

Not to be outdone, Phil Bearman won the U17s race at the same venue in 14:25 – his fourth consecutive win of the league season – with Neil Wellard (14:32) in third, to help the junior boys team win the meeting and finish top of the table.

Walton Athletics Club veteran James Harvey led his team home to a fifth place finish in the senior men’s Division Two.

Harvey clocked 33:45 to come 18th – nine seconds ahead of team-mate Duncan Woolmer in 19th.

Conor Kissane-Wood (34:07) came 21st as the result helped Walton finish second in the table, behind league winners Clapham Chasers.

Kingston’s men – led home by James Robertson (32:11) in third – finished sixth to secure third place in the end of season table.

Other results of note, saw Elmbridge Runners’ Cherry Sheffrin (42:21) the first home in 21st for her team as they finished fourth in the senior women’s race.
