Phil Simpson masterminded another thumping Terrors victory on Saturday and then declared - I want the Tooting & Mitcham job full time.

Since taking over as caretaker manager following Jamie Martin's resignation, Simpson has won two and out of two with the Terrors scoring nine goals in the process after demolishing Worthing 5-2.

His only senior managerial experience came in 2004 when he guided Lewisham Borough to the Division One West title in the Kent League but now Simpson is eager to prove himself again by bringing the good times back to Imperial Fields.

"I definitely do want it as managing is the next step for me," he said.

"Another change of manager here would upset the dressing room so I want it until the end of the season at least and then I would be looking for it for next year.

"I managed in the Kent League for a year and got promoted and that made me realise how knowledgeable I am as a coach and a manager.

"For me, it is not about a player's ability. To play at this level you have to have ability so it is all down to mental state.

"If you can find out what gets a player ticking it is easy to get the best out of them.

"The level Tooting & Mitcham are at at the moment is disappointing and if they give the job to me permanently then my aim is to move them up the league as quickly as possible."

Carl Wilson-Denis scored a hat-trick against Worthing in the absence of Laurent Hamici, who has left the club by mutual consent in search of first-team football.

Nathan Koo-Boothe and Bamoussa Cisse scored the other goals and Tooting host Herne Bay on Saturday looking to keep up Simpson's 100 per cent record.
