Care takes his place on the bench once again after Italian blunder
Harlequins and England scrum-half Danny Care is paying the price for a misplaced kick by being returned to the bench for tomorrow’s RBS Six Nations decider against Wales.
Care’s mistake at Twickenham on Sunday led to the Italian’s solitary try and, although the 26-year-old took comfort from England’s eventual 18-11 win, he is being replaced by the recalled Ben Youngs for the crunch clash in Cardiff.
There was better news for club-mate Joe Marler, who has been recalled as loose-head prop in place of Mako Vunipola.
England enter the Millennium stadium on the verge of their first Grand Slam since 2003 – something Care takes great pride in.
He said: “Hopefully, it will be a cracking game in the Millennium. We know what we’re chasing and that Wales can still win the tournament.
“They are going to be a physical side, similar to Italy. They are going to play hard with the forwards and we’ll have to defend very well over there.
“I had a big hand in the soft try we let in against Italy, which is disappointing for me.
“It was poor execution of a kick that I should not have attempted. There was a bit too much pressure on me but it was one of those things – I made the mistake, we dealt with it and moved on.
“At the end of the day, we’re four from four and we go into the last game chasing the Grand Slam.”
