Carshalton boxer Lenny Daws is suspecting under-hand tactics ahead of his European Super Lightweight bout in Italy.
The bout for the vacant title against Michele Di Rocco was due to be staged in Italy after promotions company OPI 2000 were awarded it by the European Boxing Union in January.
However, after countless delays, the bout has now been pencilled in for April 27 in Perugia – but Daws is still waiting on confirmation.
The 34-year-old, who lives in Morden, said: “It’s unprofessional of the Italian camp, but it might be using underhand tactics, wanting to wait to the final moment to spring it on me.
“But they are not going to catch me out, I will be ready either way.”
He added: “If the fight doesn’t go ahead, we shall be requesting a new opponent in England.”
