Bees boss Uwe Rosler heaped praise on Simon Moore after the young goalkeeper’s mistake gifted MK Dons the opening goal on Monday.

Brentford went on to lose 2-0, but Rosler was far happier with his stopper than his strikers.

Moore, 22, has been in inspirational form as the Bees battle for promotion to the Championship, something Rosler is quick to point out.

He said: “Simon has been fantastic for us both when there was no pressure at the start of the season to when there has been pressure now.

“He is a young goalkeeper who deserves a lot of praise from me and everyone associated with the club.

“He has won us so many points this season.

“I’ll never hang out a player who makes a mistake if they try their hardest for the club, and Simon does that and he is his own biggest critic.

“Before his mistake against MK, we had four or five good chances to take the lead but we did not take them.

“We still need to be more clinical in front of goal, but I am optimistic we have enough about us to be promoted.

“Our home games are vital, and I think we need to win two games away.”

Brentford have a chance to get one of those away wins on Saturday at Coventry City.
