Dons boss Neal Ardley swapped the dugout for the cricket crease when the club took on Epsom-based Deando Ruxley in its annual cricket match.
Unfortunately, despite taking a wicket, two catches and hitting an unbeaten 12, Ardley could not guide Dons to victory in the friendly match.
The club’s commercial executive Sam Grayson hit 52, but they still fell nine runs short of the 156 set by Deando.
Ardley said: “It is the first time I have played in a very long time, probably about 30 years, but I enjoyed it.
“I am not a huge cricket fan. I might follow the Ashes. I think I chipped in, although I could not say I was their star man.”
