Sutton United boss Paul Doswell is confident new striker Jamie Taylor will be fully fit in time for the big Blue Square South kick-off on August 17.
Taylor injured his ankle ligaments only minutes into his United debut in the 4-3 defeat to Arsenal on July 12.
Doswell said the 30-year-old has returned to straight line running, and, although this weekend’s visit of Cambridge United will be too soon, Taylor should be available for the Aldershot friendly on August 3.
“We were concerned that Jamie had broken something in his ankle, which would have been an absolute disaster,” Doswell said.
“But, thankfully, it was not as bad as we feared and I am confident he’ll be in the mix for the Aldershot game.”
The boss also revealed that Marvin Williams and Dean Sinclair would return for the Cambridge game.
Meanwhile, despite Doswell saying Harry Beautyman would not play for Sutton this season, the midfielder turned out in the friendlies against AFC Wimbledon and Chelsea.
Doswell said: “Harry rang me and said he wanted to come back, and I would have been foolish not to accept.
“He will have to fight for his place though as our midfield is strong.”
Meanwhile, Moses Swaibu has signed a three-month deal, and Ben Kudjodi is continuing to train with the club.
