Croydon’s men’s team enjoyed their best finish in the Rosenheim League cup final in seven seasons thanks to a runner-up finish at Kingston last Wednesday.

The Harriers were eclipsed by the hosts Kingston and Polytechnic on a blustery night by 10 points (75), but finished on 65 points, one in front of Belgrave.

The rest of the field consisted of Hercules Wimbledon (fourth, 56pts), Epsom and Ewell (fifth, 50pts), St Mary’s Richmond (sixth, 36pts), Herne Hill (seventh, 34pts) and Walton (eighth, 33pts).

Wins on the night came courtesy of Peter Chambers in the 1,500m, leading from the gun to win in four minutes, 5.44 seconds.

Marcelle Rowe won the 400m in 53.02 and Ned Quiney the pole vault with a clearance of 4.50m.

Runners-up finishes were found in Edwin Miles (200m, 22.74) and Omar Reid (discus, 40.97m) and there was a lifetime best for David White (3,000m, 8:48.2) to battle to third.

The rest of the scoring team consisted of Rhys Edwards-Whittle (100m 12.02), Alex Penfold (800m, 2:04.33), Andy Del Nevo (2,000m steeplechase, 7:43.3), Colm Teeluck (long jump, 4.71m) and Chris King (hammer, 23.15m).
At the South of England Championships, Ashleigh Clarke scooped a silver in the U17 women’s 100m in 12.57.

Other finalists included Ricardo King (U17 men’s 400m, fourth), Aaron Adekoya (U17 men’s 100m, fifth), Kieron Connor (U15 boys' 800m) and Reegan Boyce (U15 boys' long jump, 14th).

At the British Athletics Jumps and Throws festival in Bedford, Ned Quiney cleared 4.50m in the pole vault for runners-up spot and long jumper Paul Ogun leapt to 6.88m for sixth in the field of 16.

And in race-walking, Ian Statter completed the six-day British Ultra race walking Festival finishing in 21st completing 259.7 miles.
