Stat attack - the bare facts behind Crystal Palace v Fulham
Crystal Palace take on Fulham tonight in a game where three points would take the Eagles to within one point of their London rivals.
Ian Holloway’s men fell to a 3-1 defeat at Anfield two weeks ago with Dwight Gayle scoring a consolation goal for the Eagles in the second half.
According to the EA Sports player performance index, Jason Puncheon has been a smart acquisition for Palace following his loan move from Southampton.
So far the midfielder has racked up 113 successful passes in the opponent’s half, more than any other Palace player.
He has also been the team’s most effective attacker, leading the way with a total of 18 attacking contributions which includes assists, crosses, dribbles and shots on goal.
Mile Jedinak is still the defensive stalwart for Palace as he has been for much of the season.
Only Aaron Ramsey has attempted more tackles than the Australian but even he cannot match Jedinak’s impressive success rate of 74.4 per cent.
But Danny Gabbidon has made the most defensive blocks this season with 10.
For Martin Jol’s Fulham the goals have not flowed as easily as they would have hoped at the beginning of this season.
But his players must start getting more attempts on goal away if this is to improve. So far no Fulham player has broken into double-figures for total attempts on goal according to the EA Sports player performance index.
