Brentford's Grigg secures three points for Bees at Notts County
Brentford striker Will Grigg notched his second goal in five days as the Bees secured their eighth win in nine games with a narrow 1-0 success over Notts County at the County Ground on Saturday.
The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international pounced on a minute before half time as boss Uwe Rosler's men extended their unbeaten run to nine matches.
Grigg was eventually credited on Thursday with his side's 81st minute equaliser in Tuesday's 3-2 triumph over Peterborough United with the goal having originally been given to George Saville after his header hit a post and appeared to cross the line.
But anaylsis of the match video by Brentford coaching staff and photographic evidence saw the former Walsall striker given the goal as he forced the ball over the line from close range.
His reward was a starting slot in Nottingham yesterday as he was one of two changes Rosler made to his starting line up with the other - Toumani Diagouraga - setting Grigg up to fire home from the left side of the box.
County threatened first when Jack Grealish unleashed a low shot which David Button blocked, but from the follow up first Andre Bouchard then Jamal Campbell-Ryce had attempts before the ball was scrambled clear.
Adam Forshaw picked up the ball in midfield but his speculative shot from 30 yards was wide of the left hand post.
Clayton Donaldson saved his side when he cleared off the line after Button had saved Gary Liddle's effort from a corner on the right.
Callum McGregor broke down the left for the Magpies, his cross into the box diverted behind by Tony Craig.
The home side enjoyed the best chance of the half just before the break, when Danny Haynes did well to escape the attentions of Jake Bidwell and his cross to the back post was fired wide by Campbell-Rice.
The Bees took the lead on the stroke of half time when Grigg took one touch to slip the ball past Bartosz Bialkowski.
Brentford survived a scare at the start of the second half when Haynes' close range cross appeared to strike Craig's hand but referee Nigel Miller waved away the penalty claims.
Donaldson missed a great chance to double his side's lead when he burst through the middle and took the ball wide left before firing past the right hand post.
Minutes later Donaldson headed wide of the same post from Buidwell's free kick wide on the left.
After winning the ball in the middle of the field, substitute George Saville thread a sublime pass through the heart of the County defence, which Grigg latched onto before shooting inches wide.
