Carshalton Athletic boss Ian Hazel says his charges are looking forward to Saturday’s trip to Maidstone United despite the clubs being at opposite ends of the Ryman Premier League table.

The Robins sit second bottom as they chase a first league win since September, but they are unbeaten in their past three games.

“This represents a tough challenge but if we play to our strengths and enjoy the occasion then I’m sure we can earn a positive result,” said Hazel, who took over in October.

“The club has struggled for league wins this season but I feel we are heading in the right direction, we are becoming harder to beat and now adding goals to our approach play.”

Carshalton overturned a 2-0 deficit at Enfield Town last week to come away with a point.

Meanwhile, Hazel said the response he has seen from his players in recent training sessions has been "encouraging".

“We’ve been working on goalscoring situations, getting people into dangerous positions, and the lads have begun to make this practice pay off in matches,” he added.

“I’m pleased for the likes of Kingsley Aikhionbare and Lewis Taylor who have grabbed goals lately, plus Tommy Bradford is always a threat.”

The Robins boss has been dealing with loanees during the build up to their trip to Kent as Northampton Town goalkeeper Dean Snedker returned to his parent club on Monday.

“Dean has been fantastic but he is returning to Northampton for a while. I have a couple of leads on replacements including one lad who is currently at Fulham, but we’ll definitely have someone in place by Saturday,” he said.

“However, I’m pleased to say Millwall have agreed to let Niall McManus stay with us for another month, which certainly bolsters our midfield options.”

Stay away fan says...

Did Mr Hazel have anything to say about the alleged abuse at Lowestoft that got 2 loyal fans banned? Or the 6 bans at the club handed out last week?
All getting a bit silly at CAFC, hopefully once of your journos can ask Mr Hazel or Mr Dipre to comment on the bans?
