Ex-Hampton &  Richmond Borough Ryan Moss has admitted Beavers fans had not seen him at his best at the Beveree, but that could all change this Christmas.

The 27-year-old, as part of a 27-goal partnership with Andre McCollin, has fired 13 goals this term to help Kingstonian to third in the Ryman Premier League table and  manager Alan Dowson to a second manager of the month award.

Moss, who lives in Clapham, netted nine times for the Beavers last term after arriving in London from the south coast in January, but was denied the chance to hit it off properley with prolific forward Charlie Moone, who left the club for a brief spell at Boreham Wood in March.

Ks visit the Beveree on Boxing Day having beaten Hampton 1-0 at home in August thanks to a header from their former striker.

And Moss, a senior anatomical pathology technician by trade, is aiming to be at his clinical best when he returns to his old stomping ground.

“I had such a bad season by my standards last season,” he said.

“I’d moved to Havant & Waterlooville at the start of the season and went from regularly playing 90 minutes of football, to not really playing.

“I wasn’t really enjoying it. A job came up in London so I moved and was going to take a break from the game until Mark Harper and Tony Taggart persuaded me to play.

“I think I got nine goals, which wasn’t too bad, but I found it difficult, because I had not played much earlier in the season, so I found it difficult to find my sharpness.

“About two weeks after I signed the budget was pulled from under Mark’s feet because it did not look like we could make the play-offs.

“It happens a lot in non-League football and you just end up seeing the season out.

“It is a great club, the people are great and I liked the manager, but the money we had been promised was cut and that affects everything.

“Players left and the atmosphere turned a bit sour. It was difficult circumstances.

“I’m absolutely loving it at Ks now.  I’ve got 13 goals already and am looking for more.”

The Beavers struck a positive blow for their confidence on Saturday as a Moone double and one from Dan Thompson gave them a 3-0 win at high-flying Lowestoft Town.

Co-managers Paul Barry – an observer at Kingstonian’s 1-0 defeat to Wealdstone on Monday  –  and Darren Powell welcome Lewes to the Beveree tomorrow.
