A duo of Hercules Wimbledon runners in action for Surrey in the South of England inter-counties cross-country championships on Saturday came away with team medals.

Claire Grima, returning to the county team after failing to make the grade in 2012, helped the senior women's team take the silver medals.

She was also the fourth scoring member of the squad, finishing 23rd out of 63 runners and covering the 6km course in 24:03 - Grima was also the second veteran over 35 finisher.

Surrey debutant Oscar White helped the county take the bronze in the boys U13 3km race at Shuttleworth Park in Biggleswade.

He was the fourth scoring member of the Surrey team, finishing 25th out of 90 runners in 11 minutes 11 seconds, less than a minute behind the race winner.

Two other Hercules Wimbledon runners racing for their county narrowly failed to make the scoring team.

Matthew Gibbons, called in after originally being selected as a reserve, was Surrey's seventh finisher in the boys U15 4km race. He was 54th out of 82 runners in 13:39, just over a minute behind the race winner.

Cassian Hyde was the seventh member of the men's U17 team, finishing 38th out of 82 runners in the 5km race in 16:39. Surrey's four-to-score team won gold.
