Hercules Wimbledon new-comer Lisa Thomas set a club women's veteran over-45 record over 5km in the Wimbledon Common parkrun on Saturday.

She finished 43rd out of almost 300 runners in 20 minutes 55 seconds, as well as being the sixth woman to finish and first in the over-45 category.

Her time smashed the previous record of 21:37 set by Alison Purnell in July 2011.

It was a good day for Hercules Wimbledon women in the parkrun as Emilie Bokor-Ingram was first woman finisher in 20:16, finishing 29th overall. 

Marathon runner David Grima was top Hercules Wimbledon finisher in 17:42, a time he has only beaten twice this year.

Over-45 veteran Peter Collins was fourth in a personal best time of 17:50 - a seven-second improvement on his previous best set at the end of September 2012.

Making his debut in the Richmond Park parkrun on Saturday, another Hercules Wimbledon marathon runner, Sean Crummy, was sixth out of almosy 250 runners in 18:27, while Andrew Davies was fifth out of 106 runners in the Bishop's Park parkrun in Fulham in a personal best 18:51.

He was also the top veteran over-40 finisher, slicing six seconds off his previous best time for the course set on his debut appearance the previous weekend.

Hercules Wimbledon coach Mark White posted a personal best time of 21:05 in finishing 27th at Fulham, where he was also the second veteran over 45 finisher.

He took 15 seconds off his previous best set the previous weekend.

Meanwhile, Hercules Wimbledon teenager Connor Bindler was a fine eighth out of almost 800 runners in the Bushy Park parkrun in 17:36.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's men and women cross country runners are in action in the annual South of the Thames championship race over seven-and-a-half miles on Wimbledon Common.

The three-lap race starts and finishes on the common at the corner of North View and West Place.

Hercules Wimbledon runners will get a chance to build up their Christmas Day appetites by competing in the annual Lauriston Runners' Club's 30-minute paarlauf.

The race starts at 11am, but runners need to report to Lauriston Cottage at 10.30am to be paired into teams.
