In conditions more reminiscent of a winter storm in the Outer Hebrides, the Hampton & Richmond Borough twice took the lead at Margate, but they couldn't hold on to the win as the hosts struck in the last minute to secure a 2-2 draw.

The Beavers started the match with the wind and rain behind them, and in the seventh minute, thought they'd taken the lead, but Dan Thompson was deemed offside by the assistant.

Ten minutes later, Hampton made amends as newly contracted Charlie Moone fired home from the spot for his 23rd goal of the season having been felled by keeper Craig Holloway.

Despite playing into the wind Margate were having decent spells of possession and could have scored in the 21st minute after new signing Rashid Youseff had beat Rodney Chiweshe to a long ball forward.

Luckily for the Beavers, Joe Turner had tracked back and was there to clear the shot.

Three minutes later, the Blues got back on terms.

A long punt forward got caught on the wind, and deceived the defence, leaving Chiweshe stranded, giving Matt Bodkin an easy opportunity to tap home.

In the second half, Margate made better use of the almost gale force wind, and a series of early corners stretched the Beavers defence as Rodney Chiweshe had to punch the crosses clear as they boomeranged in.

Chiweshe continued to be the more active keeper, having to block shots from McDonald and Bodkin before an hour was played, but it was Hampton who struck next.

Karle Carder's corner caught on the wind and fell to Luke Wanadio on the edge of the box, his first time shot flipped over Holloway for a goal that was against the run of play.

Margate, under new boss Terry Brown, looked stunned but came back through the wind and rain - which was now practically horizontal - and it was McDonald who made best use of this as his header from a cross from the left flying just wide.

Joe Turner had been given the role of filling in for George Wells at left back, but on 80 minutes, he looked to be eyeing up the goal as he made an imperious 50 yard run into the box, however the shot at the end didn't match the method to get in position.

The Beavers were looking like they might hold on for the points, in spite of everything Margate and the weather could throw in their faces, but they reckoned without substitute Charles Ademeno in the 89th minute.

A corner from the far side fell kindly at his feet in the six yard box after Chiweshe looked to have been impeded and the tall striker was able to prod the ball home to give the Blues a point they hadn't looked like getting.
