Met Police boss Jim Cooper has let Jordan Bird quit the club – for his own good.

The youth team graduate switched to Ryman Premier League rivals Cray Wanderers this week, less than seven days after captaining the Blues to a 2-0 Surrey Senior Cup triumph over Dorking Wanderers.

Striker Allan Tait and Tom McGarry after left Imber Court as Cooper cleared the decks to accommodate former Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Jordan Hibbert.

And the Imber Court chief expects Bird to blossom having moved on.

“Jordan was a product of our youth team and captained our successful reserve side for the past two seasons," said Cooper.

"He has a great future but he also needs to be playing regular first-team football and as such has agreed to transfer.”

“Jordan [Hibbert] is a very talented central midfielder and will provide stiff competition for those already at the club."

Ex-Kingstonian front man Tait’s exit comes in the wake of Bradley Hudson-Odoi’s arrival at the club prior to Christmas.

The 28-year-old former Fulham trainee has been prolific since finding his fitness with the Blues after a brief spell with Hungarian side Vasas.

The ex-Hereford United striker’s exploits as such persuaded Cooper to hand the Ghanaian U20 international a contract to warn off would be suitors.

But the move has spelt the end for Tait a little over a year after he scored his side’s only goal in a 2-1 FA Cup first round defeat to League One Crawley Town.

Cooper added: “Taity has not been in the starting eleven for a few weeks now due to the form of Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Charlie Collins.

“His attitude was superb, training hard and giving his all when he either came on or started games.”

Met Police - weather permitting - host AFC Hornchuch on Saturday.
