Damien Delaney left the Emirates in philosophical mood after Crystal Palace went down 2-0 to Arsenal.

A double strike from England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did for the Eagles, leaving them fourth from bottom, while Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League.

Since Tony Pulis’ appointment, Palace have travelled to Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

And while they have not been heavily beaten on any of those trips, Delaney says talk is cheap when there are no results to show for their endeavours.

He said: “We can take something from the Arsenal performance, but we’ve said that enough when we are coming to the big teams.

“I want to get the result. We’re not tourists - we’re not here to make up the numbers. We’re coming to these games and we want to win.

“We’ve had enough chances against big sides now to start converting them and, unfortunately, we’ve not got anything out of it. A defeat is a defeat no matter where it is.”

He added: “It was important that we didn’t get turned over massively today and leave with our tails between our legs.

“I think if Cameron Jerome’s chance had gone in it would have been 1-1 and made it a little bit different but we say the same things after all the big games - we had chances and we didn’t take them so we don’t deserve anything.

“We’ve got a big game next week and we’ve got different battles to fight. It would have been nice to get something today but it wasn’t to be.”
