Croydon Harriers' David White enjoyed two victories in as many days as the endurance runner took the spoils at the Serpentine 5km and Croydon club championships.

The 27-year-old ran his second quickest time for 5km on the Hyde Park course on Friday, triumphing in 15 minutes 59 seconds, eight seconds clear of his nearest challenger in the 215-strong field.

Twenty-four hours later, he topped the standings once again at Lloyd Park, completing the six-mile course in 38:46, nearly four minutes faster than the runner-up.

Jake English was third home just hours after his fifth win at Crystal Palace parkrun.

Neil Aikman (fifth, 44:06) and Glenn Barden (sixth 45:02) were also in close contention and ensured Croydon won the informal team competition.

Julie Williams won the club’s women’s title.

In young athlete’s action, 27 Harriers made up the field of 61 participants at the Croydon mini-marathon trials.

Kartik Iyer was the club’s first finisher in third and Stevie Lawrence was first in the girl’s race.

The Harriers also crowned four other club champions on the afternoon and they included Omar Harhara (U15 boys), Jordan O’Dongo (U13 boys), Saarah Nawaz (U13 girls) and Abbie Burrett (U15 girls).

There was another victory for a Croydon Harrier on the road, with Brendan Murphy topping the standings at the Regents Park 10K on Sunday. He won in a time of 33:22, more than a minute clear of his rivals.
