Met Police boss Jimmy Cooper is looking to Tuesday's London Senior Cup final to salvage his side’s below-par league campaign.

The Blues ended their Ryman Premier League campaign with a 1-0 defeat at AFC Hornchurch on Saturday to finish in the bottom-half of the table.

They followed that with a 6-0 humiliation at the hands of Skrill Premier Woking in the Surrey Senior Cup final at Kingfield on Wednesday. Cooper will hope home advantage will count in the same way when they welcome AFC Wimbledon to Imber Court on Tuesday, but they will be without Jordan Hibbert (cup tied), Elliott Taylor (holiday) and Tom Bird (working) for his side’s second cup clash in six days.

But with his squad otherwise at full strength the Blues boss is eyeing up a cup shock.

“Look at Wigan beating Man City in the cup last year – anything could happen,” said the long-serving boss.

“Whatever side they put out they will be strong and will be out for silverware.

“When you look back in years to come, no one will know what sort of team they put out, whoever’s name is on the cup.”

Matt Pattison returned after a lengthy injury lay-off to put himself in the running to play a cup final he contested with Ks in 2012.

“Matt was absolutely superb against Hornchurch and has put himself in contention,” added Cooper.

“He has been out since the first week of February, but he is certainly one player we want to keep hold of next season.”
