Katie Snowden snared another Herne Hill Harriers club record as she recorded the fastest time outdoors by a senior woman over 800m.

Snowden, who already holds the indoor club record, clocked two minutes 4.50 seconds while racing for England B at the Loughborough International meeting.

The 20-year-old Nottingham University student ran a 61-second first lap, staying off the pacemaker's 58-second effort, and finished strongly in fourth place in a race won by Scotland's Emily Dudgeon in 2:02.8.

Elsewhere, Hannah Edwards placed third to win a bronze medal in the women's 400m at the Merseyside Championships in a personal best of 59.6secs.

Lewis Lloyd was also in fine fettle at the Watford BMC Grand Prix meeting, running 1:51.88 over 800m to finish fourth in the C race.

Earlier in the week, Harriers won the first round of the Rosenheim League East Division, nudging Belgrave Harriers and Croydon Harriers into second and third respectively in what was a competitive season opener.

Individual scoring victories included: Nicholas Atwell (200m and 400m), the 4x200m team, Thomas Ashby (triple jump and discus) and Gavin Johnson (javelin).

Although Herne Hill's women could not field a full scoring squad, Michelle Watson was a standout performer with fastest times over 100m and 200m, while Eva Joseph was quickest over 400m.

Harriers could not repeat their dominance in a Southern Men's League Division One Central fixture at Mile End, but there were individual victories for Isaac Ogunlade (400m hurdles), John Tayleur (3000m steeplechase) and Thomas Ashby (high jump, javelin and discus).

The team finished fifth on the day, and are fifth in the overall standings after two meetings.
