Croydon Harriers scooped 15 gold medals and five championship best performances at the Surrey County Championships in Kingston last weekend.

The club added a further 10 silver and 13 bronze medals to take their tally to 38 overall, two more than what they achieved 12 months ago.

Charles Hagan stole the show, with an imperious display in the U13 boy’s 100m (12.13 seconds) and 200m (24.63secs), winning both with championship best times.

It cements the Archbishop Tenison’s pupil at the top of the U13 boy’s UK rankings for the 100m and second for the 200m.

In the U15 boy’s 100m, Tyrese Johnson-Fisher similarly shone crossing the line in 11.23secs for a championship best. The time ranks him second in the UK for his age group.

Marcia Sey blew away the competition in the 70m hurdles, clocking 11.36secs to break the competition record and go to top of the UK rankings. She later added the 200m title to her collection to cap a weekend to remember.

Another hurdles victory came in the form of Robert Sakala who equalled the championship leading time in the 100m with a 13.33secs performance lifting him to third in the UK in the process.

Further golds on the field came courtesy of Jack Ennis (U13 boys' high jump, 1.36m) and Ange Gbeyo (U13 boys' shot, 10.66m) with both promising much for the future.

Twins Omar and Tamara Reid also enjoyed a golden weekend, triumphing in their respective throwing events.

Omar notched 45.84m in the U20 men’s discus, and Tamara threw a lifetime best of 37.97m in the U20 women’s hammer.

The javelin also proved a happy hunting group with a further three golds with sisters Zoe and Emma Fossett topping the standings in the U20 and U17 women’s events. Whitgift pupil Olalekan Ogunlana added to the tally in the U17 men’s event.

In the sprints, English School’s medallist Ashleigh Clarke triumphed in the 200m in 25.13secs.

Bradley Sims completed the gold medal haul on the field winning the U20 men’s discus with a 44.78m throw.

In parkrun action, there were three wins for the Harriers thanks to Brendan Murphy (Riddlesdown), David Chambers (Banstead Woods) and Jake English (Crystal Palace).

At the season’s opening Ebbisham Boy’s league fixture the boy’s team made a winning start to their campaign at Kingston.
