Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha does not like talking about his time at Manchester United, because he says there is there is literally nothing to talk about.

The Eagles face Manchester United tomorrow at Selhurst Park under the lights and in front of the TV cameras.

Zaha was Alex Ferguson’s final signing as United manager - in the January 2013 transfer window - but just two years later he was back at Palace permanently having been overlooked by David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

Now back at home, Zaha will not dwell on the past, because there’s no point.

“There’s nothing to really look back on because I never really played, I was just there not playing, not doing anything,” the 22-year-old said. “All I can think about is that there is no point thinking about the past because there’s nothing that really happened for me there.”

“Louis van Gaal spoke to me now and then, he let me go out on loan and didn’t put anything in the way, so I have to be thankful for that.

“The manager’s got to do what he’s got to do – I can’t say whether he gave me a fair chance or not because if he feels like this is the place you play, then this is the place you play; there is nothing else I can do about it.”

On the scoresheet: Zaha nets in March's 3-1 win over QPR

Zaha was not in the Palace side that lost 1-0 at Old Trafford in November, meaning this weekend’s clash will the first time he has faced his former, albeit fleetingly, team-mates.

However, the England international falls short of wanting to get one over his old employers.

He said: “It’s 50/50 really, but they’re like any other team – I’m going to be up for it like any other game, but I didn’t really get a chance to prove myself at United.

“I’ve got to show what I could have done over there, here at Palace, so I will do my best like every other game.”

After last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea handed the Blues the Premier League crown, Zaha waded into the controversy over the match-defining penalty.

He said: “If Eden Hazard goes down in the box he probably will get a penalty.

“If I did, or anyone else in the Palace squad, then I don’t know if we would get it – it looks minimal but sometimes you get it, sometimes you don’t.

“If we get the penalty in the opening minutes of the game when the ball seemed to hit Terry’s hand then it would have been a different game, but it didn’t go our way so there is nothing I can say about it - they’re champions and they’ve deserved it.”
