Jack Wilshere believes Bournemouth is the best place for him to continue his development away from Arsenal.

The England midfielder was approached by a host of clubs hoping to secure his services on loan.

Crystal Palace signalled an interest in Wilshere but the 24-year-old opted to join Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.

Reflecting on his decision to head to the South Coast, Wilshere tweeted: “I'm delighted to have joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan and would like to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome.

“I had a good chat with the manager and feel sure that this is the best place for me to play and develop this season.

“I am looking forward to working hard every day with the coaching staff and my new teammates to help the club achieve success on the pitch. Thanks for all of your support.”

Howe hopes the deal can benefit both parties and said Wilshere could be the missing piece of the jigsaw for his Bournemouth side.

The boss was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail: “Jack is obviously out there on his own with his profile and what we've attracted before, it's a good deal and one that can work for both sides.

“He can complement our style of play and maybe add that missing piece to the jigsaw.

“We had a good talk about football, about Bournemouth the place and the football club, thankfully he chose us.”
