Wilfried Zaha insists speculation which suggested he was on his way out of Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window didn’t affect him.

The 25-year-old got off the mark against Fulham at Craven Cottage to help the Eagles secure their first opening day Premier League win in three years.

He was asked whether he was relieved to see the back of the transfer window after being linked with moves away, but maintains his focus was always in one place.

Zaha said: “To be honest it makes no difference to me because I had my head down anyway. All that stuff it was not going to affect me or how the team were playing.

“Whatever happens, happens. But I’m all Palace – and you can see on the pitch that all I think about is the team doing well.

“All this speculation does not make a difference to me.”

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were rumoured to be in for Zaha during the close season, though he sought to rubbish increased speculation of an apparent desire to move away.

Meanwhile the former Manchester United winger is in talks with the club over a new contract to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

Though, when asked what the latest is on the situation, he said he wasn’t sure.

Zaha added: “To be honest I am not sure. We are still speaking about it, still negotiating, whatever. Just going to see if we can come to an agreement.”
