Harlequins head coach John Kingston has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Stoop until June 2012.

Kingston, in charge of the team since former director of rugby was axed over the Bloodgate scandal in the summer, said: "Eighteen months into my role as head coach, I am delighted to have committed myself for a further two-and-a-half years.

"Over this time, I feel we have developed a style that the players enjoy and which allows them to express themselves in a positive and successful manner.

"The squad has made giant strides and, with our summer issues well and truly behind us, I have no doubt that the next few years are going to be very exciting ones for Harlequins."

Harlequins chief executive Mark Evans added: "John has been at Harlequins nearly a decade now and knows the club intimately.

"He has been instrumental in building the young and exciting team that we have today.

"He is highly respected by the management, coaching team and players at Harlequins and I look forward to continuing to work with him."
