Substitute Calvin Andrew scored his first Crystal Palace goal as a depleted Eagles side beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.

Injuries and a number of players going out on loan meant manager Neil Warnock was only able to name four players on the bench, including 16-year-old Alex Wynter.

Neil Danns gave Palace the lead in the 19th minute thanks to some comical defending from the home side.

Mark Beevers should have cleared Sean Scannell's cross but missed his kick, leaving Alan Lee to scuff a shot to the back post where Danns tapped in.

Wednesday were level thanks to some poor defending from Palace ending in Clint Hill deflecting Leon Clarke's wayward shot into his own net.

Andrew replaced Scannell in the second half and opened his Eagles account when he outmuscles Frank Simek to Alan Lee's flick on and fired in off the post.

Francis Jeffers should have earned a replay but shot straight at Julian Speroni while Wynter made his debut in injury time.
