Club officials have dismissed rumours Brentford boss Andy Scott is clinging to his job after Tuesday’s 4-1 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Bees slipped to a sixth defeat in a run of eight winless games - a sequence which leaves Scott’s men two points above the League One drop zone.

Internet talk this week suggested the League Two winning manager might face the music ahead of this weekend’s crunch visit of fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle.

However, a club spokesman has claimed there is 'absolutely no truth' in the speculation surrounding Scott’s future at Griffin Park.

The former Brentford and Leyton Orient striker had seen his team on the brink of the play-offs after a 2-1 New Year’s Day triumph at the Daggers.

The pressure on Scott’s head is mounting, but he insists he is not about to walk out on the job and has called on his players to match his commitment.

“I’m intelligent enough and have enough nouce to know that we’re two points off the bottom four and shouldn’t be,” he said on Saturday.

“The blame lies with me and that’s where it is at the moment.

"The good thing about it is, I can look myself in the mirror and know I give 100% every single day.

“We’ve worked very hard this week and couldn’t have done any more. Individual errors have cost me and the club and the players and that’s life.

“I will work as hard as I have done the last three years and for the next three years, or however long I am in the job, to be successful.

“I am not a quitter.

“I’m not going to give up on things and I’m even more determined to make sure that we put it right, but I need a squad of 25 players to have the same attitude.”

Bees fans turned on Scott for the first time at Victoria Road on Tuesday, and the Griffin Park chief insists he feels their pain.

“When we were 12th there were rumblings. Everyone expects us to be up there. I want to be up there as well,” he added.

“I’m hurting, they’re hurting. If they don’t think I’m hurting as much as they are, then they are very very wrong.

“It does hurt me that they are vocal in that respect, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to do anything different from what I’ve been doing.

“I’ll be working just as hard as I have been to make sure we turn it round and to make them proud.

" I just ask them to keep the faith."
