AFC Wimbledon manager Terry Brown has congratulated Crawley Town after they clinched the Blue Square Premier title last Saturday.

Wimbledon led the championship for long periods this season but could not keep up with Crawley in the end as they won promotion to the Football League with five games left.

"There is a bit of envy there but it is a fantastic achievement," said Brown.

"They have won it comfortably with five games to go so, whatever the finances he had available, it is still a wonderful achivement and they did it playing good football.

"They are the best team in the the league and deserve to be champions."

Wimbledon kept up their good form with a 2-1 win over Cambridge United last Saturday, which Brown hailed as one of their best.

"It was probably the best performance since Christmas," he said.

"Our ball retention was the best it has been this year, we kept it well and passed it about.

"We could have done with creating a few more chances but we have worked on that this week.

"It is no good playing pretty football if we don't create chances because you might be comfortable but if you concede one you put yourself under pressure - unless you are Manchester United and go up the other end and score another straight away."
