Terry Brown has no fear of losing star goalkeeper Seb Brown, despite the shot stopper’s impressive start to the season for AFC Wimbledon.

The 21-year-old played a pivotal role on Tuesday night as he kept the Dons in the game at Plymouth Argyle with a number of fantastic saves in the first half, before a Jack Midson double after the break gave them a 2-0 win.

It followed the clean sheet he recorded in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge as the Dons showed they can compete in League Two following their opening day defeat to Bristol Rovers.

Brown’s performances between the sticks are bound to have caught the eye of teams higher up the football pyramid but his namesake and manager is not having sleepless nights over him leaving.

“Seb is a very level-headed man and his goalkeeping coach Paul Priddy has brought him on fantastically well,” he said.

“With goalkeepers they really need to play every week and if Seb went to a higher league then the likelihood is he would just sit on the bench.

“He is only 21 and he is improving every week because he is playing every week and I don’t think he will be going anywhere for at least a couple of years.

“He was brilliant when we were under the cosh at Plymouth.

“Both the centre-halves were brilliant too and to keep two clean sheets has been absolutely wonderful.”

Goals from Luke Moore and Rashid Yussuff secured victory in the District line derby with Dagenham before Midson scored his first league goals for the Dons in the south-west.

Despite the impressive results, Terry Brown is keeping his, and the club’s, feet firmly on the ground.

“I think if Plymouth had had a few senior players they would probably have beaten us so we are not going to get carried away,” he said.

“There is a long way to go yet and it is a hard league.

“Saturday was a massive game for us and an incredibly hard-earned victory.

“We had to change the way we played and play a lot more direct at Dagenham.

“But on Tuesday we went back to playing football and I do not think we played particularly well.

“To come away with a win at Plymouth and say I am disappointed with the way we played though shows how far we have come in the last couple of years.”

The Dons face bottom side Hereford United, who have lost all three League games and are yet to score a goal, at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.
