Bees boss Uwe Rosler says he expects more of the same from star striker Clayton Donaldson.

The 27-year-old hitman headed in what proved to be the winner in Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Exeter City, to push Brentford up into the top six and erase the memory of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

Donaldson has struggled to open his Bees account since his summer switch from Crewe Alexandra.

But now he has broken his duck, Rosler has demanded he keeps up the good work after running the Grecians ragged to secure a second League One win of the campaign.

“Exeter couldn’t cope with his speed, his strength or his ability and that is how he must play every time he takes the field,” he says.

“He must approach the game this Saturday exactly the same way mentally and physically.

“More goals will come for him becuase he was looking to score all the time and was always around where the chances might fall.”

Celtic loan star Niall McGinn provided the cross for Donaldson to head home and the striker revealed he was always confident he would find the net sooner rather than later.

“I wasn’t worried about not scoring. I knew if I got a chance I would take it,” he added.

Brentford, who spurned a hatful of chances at Hereford United last week, were wasteful in Devon and should have put the game to bed having gone 2-0 up.

But Rosler is not overly concerned and believes his men are moving in the right direction.

“It goes in periods. We had a lot of chances at Hereford, but not so many against Exeter and we got a bit of luck with the first goal,” he says.

“As long as we are creating chances and looking to play positive football, I am happy and the goals will come.”
