Terry Brown may still be looking for his best midfield at AFC Wimbledon, but Lee Minshull hopes his performance in the demolition of Cheltenham Town has boosted his chances of more starts.

Minshull began the game with Ricky Wellard and Sammy Moore and saw his cross converted into his own net by Robins defender Danny Andrews for the Dons' second goal as they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.

That trio, as well as Rashid Yussuff and Max Porter, have been rotated by Brown as he searches for a consistent combination - which Minshull wants to be part of.

"I don't think the manager knows his best two or three in midfield yet," said the 25-year-old.

"Sammy has done well and I think he will start at Bradford City on Saturday but then the other two places are up for grabs.

"We are still looking for the right formula.

"Personally, I have had a better start than I did last season.

"I have played more games and to be involved on Saturday, in what was one of our best performances of the season, was great and hopefully that means I will start this Saturday."

Wellard, Yussuff and Jack Midson also scored at the weekend as the Dons bounced back from the 3-0 mauling by Northampton Town four days earlier.

It was their fourth win of an inconsistent season that has seen their last six results go draw, lose, win, draw, lose, win.

"It has all been a bit of learning curve," added Minshull.

"We are realising that if you don't start a game well, where we might have got away with that in the conference, we are not going to in League Two.

"All the teams are professional here and are a lot more prepared for games so you get punished if you are not on it from the very start.

"Macclesfield Town beat us 4-0 and they haven't been doing very well but were made to look brilliant because we weren't at the races."
