It was an afternoon to forget for Brentford as they fell to a 4-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at Griffin Park on Saturday.

Facing a Terriers side on a 35 game unbeaten league run, the Bees kept things close until conceding three goals in less than 10 minutes during the second half.

A disappointed Bees’ boss Uwe Rosler pinpointed where his side’s frailties lay: “There was nothing between the two teams, apart from we couldn't deal with corners and free kicks. That is where they got their chances from.”

There were few chances during the opening quarter, with the first falling to Peter Clarke, whose header hit the post.

Former on loan Bee Jordan Rhodes opened the scoring nine minutes before the break when he leapt between both centre halves to send a looping header into the top left hand corner.

Rhodes almost extended the lead when he broke quickly and unleashed a shot from 20 yards, which Richard Lee did well to block with his foot as he dived to his right.

Rhodes again threatened early in the second half when his shot struck the bar. Niall McGinn had a rare chance for the Bees, but his shot was saved by Ian Bennett.

Huddersfield's dominance began to show when Tommy Miller's pass was controlled by Lee Novak with his right foot and steered past Lee with his left.

Novak was involved again when he broke down the right and crossed from the byline, with Rhodes heading home from close range.

Rhodes was denied his hat-trick after his 20 yard shot struck the right hand post, but Gary Rhodes hammered home from inside the box.
