Maybe Bees striker Clayton Donaldson should have a holiday.
Not because he needs a rest, is not good enough to be in the team or because he hasn’t scored enough goals, but because it could make fans realise what boss Uwe Rosler clearly believes.
Donaldson is a key man.
Hotshot Gary Alexander, not particularly loved earlier in the season, was sidelined for a couple of months, leading to fans believing he was Brentford’s missing link.
He has returned to score nine goals in 10 games.
By contrast, Donaldson has only five goals in nearly 28 league appearances this season, but his contribution at the weekend did not go unnoticed by Rosler.
I am a fan of the ex-Crewe striker and maybe a break would soon see fans craving for his return in the same way as Alexander’s second coming.
After all, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
