Captain Chris Robshaw led the praise for Harlequins supporters on Saturday - admitting the guard of honour they received when entering the stadium left a tear in many players' eyes.

In the lead up to their 30-23 Aviva Premiership final win over Leicester Tigers at Twickenham, Quins players walked the short distance from their home ground, The Stoop, to the home of English rugby and were greeted by many cheering Quins fans.

And Robshaw was happy to give something back to them for the support they have given the club all season.

"It is nice to repay the fans," he said.

"We walked over Saturday morning and they gave us a guard of honour coming in and it was quite emotional for myself and a lot of players who have been at the club for about eight years now.

"Of course, in that time we have had our highs and lows and a bit of drama and it is nice to repay them with something like this, they have been so loyal and great to us.

"A lot of people have written us off all year and said we were only there because of the World Cup so it is nice to prove a lot of people wrong and to come out victorious like that is a huge honour."

Robshaw has had an impressive personal year on both club and country front - completed by his converted try in the final that proved the difference between the sides.

"It's been a brilliant individual year, I have loved every moment of it," he added.

"But it is not about myself, it is about everyone in the squad this season.

"The coaching has been brilliant and I have been surrounded by some great players and coaches that have allowed me to go out there and conduct myself in the manner I have."
