Goals key to Bees success
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has admitted only goals will determine if his side can reach the League One play-offs this season.
The Bees kick-off their campaign at Bury tomorrow on the back of a 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Walsall on Saturday.
Rosler, who saw his side finish ninth last term has high hopes for his men, having moulded a squad capable of delivering on his footballing philosophies having lost a host of
experienced pros from the squad he inherited.
The Griffin Park chief has been boosted by the return of captain Kevin O’Connor and expects last season’s player of the year Jonathan Douglas to have another formidable campaign in
But it is up front where Rosler knows he must find the magic formula and is ready to add to his goal scoring arsenal to put things right.
“We played some very good football and dominated games at time, but we struggled to score enough goals,” he said.
“Getting someone in who can score 30 goals a season is expensive and very difficult to do. We have a bit in the budget to bring someone else in, but we have already spent money this summer so
it may have to be on loan.
“Farid El Alagui has looked sharp and we expect him to score but it may take some time for him to adapt to this league. Clayton Donaldson has a year under his belt and should go better.”
