Wimbledon Cricket Club are in double daydream heaven after an emphatic victory in the National Club T20 finals at Edgbaston last night in front of the Sky TV cameras.

The Church Road-based side added the one-day silverware to the Surrey Championship Premier Division title they won two weeks ago.

Last night's man of the match and Wimbledon skipper Neil Turk praised his team for their all round performance on a day when many were playing under lights for the first time.

After beating Cuckney from Nottinghamshire in the semi-finals by 17 runs, Wimbledon took on Liverpool-based outfit Northern in the final and they showed the Merseysiders no mercy.

Darren Hooey (3-28), Will Leith (2-11) and Turk (2-8, including a possible hat-trick) strangled the Northern attack to just 90 all out in 19.1 overs.

Then, in a controled reply, Turk (30) and Graham Grace (32) guided Wimbledon to the promised land with 3.4 overs remaining.

Afterwards Turk said: "We felt confident chasing 90 but in the back of our minds was a game we lost a few weeks ago when we needed 20 with six wickets in hand. But 90, the fact it was below 100 was good psychologically for us.

"We've built our whole season around team performances rather than individuals and we had to be on our game today and fortunately we were.

"Our bowlers have been superb, they are a really hard working bunch and we have such a high-powered bowling attack, which is something we haven't seen in other leagues. I am hoping they don't leave and go somewhere else next year," he added.
