London Scottish coach Simon Amor is confident the worst defensive record in the Championship is improving.

The Exiles impressed in  a 37-26 win over Doncaster Knights on Saturday, but it failed to mask the fact Amor’s men have now conceded 150 points in four games – 13 more than bottom club Jersey – at an average of 37.5 per match.

Tries from David Howells, Mark Bright, Colin Quigley and Phil Godman at the weekend, along with three conversions and two penalties off the boot of James Love, at least had Amor purring over Scottish’s attacking flair.

But the victory came at a price with injuries to PJ Gidlow (ankle) and Dan Mugford (knee) meaning the pair will be out for action for at least three weeks.

Amor said: “We’re attacking really well, but the defence still needs to be addressed. We’re still conceding too many points for my liking. We need to be a bit more physical.

“The defence is improving. It is a big area of focus for us as individuals and as a team. We have to improve our tackling technique and our decision making.”

Amor takes his team to Nottingham tonight.
