Brentford boss Uwe Rosler said four games ago that the next four matches would go a long way to deciding the outcome of the season.

On this week’s evidence, if the Bees played Crawley Town every week they’d be lifting the League One title  in May with the Paint Pot Trophy in their back pocket for good measure.

They might even have the FA Cup in their locker too.

By all acounts the League One Red Devils were pretty awful on Saturday and striker Gary Alexander showed why Bees fans would be well advised to be careful what they wished for in future.

Some were baffled by his departure last term while others feared Brentford might miss the muscular presence of someone of his ilk up top this season too.

With Donaldson, Forrester, Adam Forshaw and the like painting some pretty pictures at times in attack, it was clear at the weekend that Rosler is not really missing much – despite insisting the former Millwall man’s acrimonious exit had cost his side dear during the run-in.

The truth is, Brentford have moved on and while the aforementioned doubble – or treble depending on the strength of teams the Premier League clubs field in this year’s FA Cup –  is entirely unrealistic.

A play-off challenge remains the target and we will all be happy if Farid El-Alagui’s replacement is not Alexander the now not so great.
