Not quite a new Dorn for Luke as 150 Broncos appearances edges ever closer
12:00pm Saturday 16th March 2013 in Rugby League
London Broncos utility back Luke Dorn is set to make his 150th appearance for the capital’s Super League club this weekend if he gets picked for the squad to face Castleford Tigers.
Dorn is in his second spell with the club, having first made his Broncos debut in a 28-24 win against Warrington at Griffin Park, Brentford, on February 13, 2005. He scored a first-minute try in that game.
After a season each with Salford (27 appearances in 2007) and Castleford (26 appearances in 2008), he returned to the club - then Harlequins RL - and made his second debut against the Tigers - the side he had just left - in a 12-8 victory on February 15, 2009.
Dorn scored both Quins' tries in that win, in a two-minute spell either side of half-time.
Asked if he thought he’d make so many appearances for the club Dorn said:
“Not in a million years. I originally signed a two year contract and I was 21 when I came here. I thought two years and I’d be back off to Australia.
“To get to 149 is pretty crazy and I’m very excited about and something I’m very proud of. Every game is important but [150 appearances] it doesn’t matter who it’s against.”
He added: “I’m so proud with every milestone I achieve with the club and I hold it very dearly. To do it for London and to be here for so long to play that many games is something I’m very proud of.”
The Broncos are searching for their second win of the Super League season and Dorn says the side are working hard to improve.
“We’re working as hard as ever and we’re putting things in place to make us a good team," Dorn said.
"We’re a collective and we go in and out together and that’s how we operate.
“We’ll get there; as long as we keep working hard we’ll find form. We have good people with a good attitude, as long as we stay committed to the cause we’ll be alright.”
The Broncos travel to Castleford Tigers on Sunday (kick-off 3:30pm) before facing Hull FC at The Twickenham Stoop on Saturday March 23 (kick-off 3:00pm).
