Peter Rand led home a 14-strong Tadworth AC contingent in Sunday's Richmond 10k.

Finishing 158th of 639 runners in 40 minutes 21 seconds he won the men’s over-60 prize and the gold medal for his class in the Surrey County 10K Championships, which were held in conjunction with the race.

Team-mates Mark Todd (181st, 41:04) and Marcus Bell (274th, 43:47) followed shortly after. Pam Lomoro (252nd, 43:16) was Tadworth’s leading lady, and there were good runs from Jane Munn (441st, 49:48), Heather Fenton (476th, 52:03), Rachel Saunders (486th, 52:07) and Helene Hill (574th, 58:14).

Other Tadworth times: Colin Woods (337th, 45:54), Roland Hogg (348th, 46:15), Mark Lowther (360th, 46:39), Phil Fenton (500th, 53:03), Richard Saunders (541st, 55:20) and Stephen Robinson (578th, 58:19).

Meanwhile, ultra-runner John Melbourne took on the South Downs marathon, a trail race from Arundel in West Sussex to Petersfield in Hampshire involving a total of 2,600 feet of ascent.

In warm conditions he finished 12th out of 500 in three hours 21:01.
