Croydon Harriers' James Dasaolu has vowed he will be back to his very best in 2016.

The 28-year-old finished off his 2015 campaign with a fourth place finish in the men's 100m event of the Memorijal Borisa Hanžekovića IAAF World Challenge last Tweek in Zagreb, Croatia.

He clocked 10.28 seconds, followed by a 10.31secs effort at Great North City Games men's 100m event on a rain-drenched Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside track on Saturday.

Dasaolu arrived in the Croatian capital feeling the debilitating effects of a flu virus from a long-haul flight from Beijing, China, which unfortunately forced many of his fellow athletes, including his Team GB colleague from Sutton Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, to pull out of the event.

"I was a bit ill coming off the flight and I think a few people have been ill," Dasaolu said.

"I could have pulled out, but I decided to compete to finish off my season.

"I don't think it was my best season. I've done things a little differently this year, but I've got a really good team behind me who knows what they are doing.

"It hasn't quite come together this year, but were 100 per cent that next year I'll be back to my best."
